wooden hanging frames

Hanging photos is an excellent way to decorate and personalize a room. However, there are many situations in which you may want to hang a picture but are unable to do so because you do not want to leave large holes in the wall, are unable to drill or hammer through the wall, or will be changing your pictures or their arrangement frequently. It is when knowing how to hang pictures without nails, which you can do with tacks, various adhesive products, and other ingenious solutions come in handy. There are several methods to choose from, and you can determine which one is best for you based on your resources and circumstances.

Remove Wooden Hanging Canvas

Take down any wooden hanging canvas frame hardware. Adhesive picture hanging strips require flat surfaces to function properly, so remove any protruding wooden hanging canvas frame hardware from the back of the picture. It includes nails, screws, wires, keyhole or sawtooth fasteners, and anything else that could cause the picture’s back surface to be uneven.

Picture-hanging strips are a great way to hang pictures without damaging the wall, and they’re extremely simple to use. They are available at office supply stores, craft stores, hardware stores, and online, as well as adhesive nails and hooks.

Clear your work surfaces.

Adhesive wooden hanging canvas strips require a clean surface to adhere properly, so use a clean cloth and isopropyl alcohol to wipe down your picture and the wall where you intend to hang it.

Make sure that the surface on which you are working is dry before applying the strips.

Clean The Wall

You can also need to clean the wall. Adhesive hooks and nails, like picture hanging strips, require clean surfaces, so wipe down the wall with a clean cloth and isopropyl alcohol, then let it dry.

Adhesive hooks or nails have adhesive backings that stick to walls, allowing you to hang pictures using the hanging hardware that came with the picture. Purchase the appropriate adhesive hanging equipment based on the hardware in your picture.

Apply The Strips

Put the strips on. Press the two opposite sides of each strip set together. Remove one-liner at a time and press the adhesive to the back of the picture. Continue to press for another 30 seconds. Repeat until all of the strips are applied.

  1. A single set of strips can support up to three pounds (1.36 kg) and most 8×10-inch (20×28-cm) photographs. If you only need one set of strips, place it in the top center of the image.
  1. Two strips can support up to six pounds (2.7 kg) and most 11×17-inch (28×44-cm) pictures. Place one set of strips in each top corner of the image.
  1. Four strips can support up to twelve pounds (5.4 kg) and most 18×24-inch (46×61 cm) photographs. Place one set of strips in each top corner of the image, and another set on each side, two-thirds of the way down from the top.

Fix The Picture To Wall

Attach the image to the wall. To begin, remove the liner from the outside of the strips to expose the adhesive. Then, place the image against the wall. Slowly separate the strips on the picture from the strips on the wall by gently pulling and lifting the bottom corners of the picture. For 30 seconds, press the strips against the wall with your fingers.

Wait One Hour

Allow one hour. This allows the adhesive on the strips to set and dry completely. After an hour, replace the picture on the wall by lining up the strips.

Before purchasing adhesive nails, make sure you know the weight of your picture, as they generally only hold between five and eight pounds (2.26 and 3.6 kg), while smaller hooks may only hold one or two pounds (0.45 or 0.9 kg).

Use more than one adhesive nail or hook to hang a picture that is heavier than the rating of your adhesive nails or hooks. Using a level during installation will ensure that the weight is distributed evenly.
