Arizona is a wonderful place to visit if you like the outdoors, hiking, and warm weather. There are lots to do in the state and I’ve put together 7 of my favorite things to do when traveling there. Want to book flights check out round trip flights for great offers and deals.
1. Walk around in the Sonoran Desert.
The Sonoran Desert is the largest desert in North America and home to a variety of wildlife, including the endangered Gila monster. There are many hiking trails in the Sonoran Desert, so you can walk around and see some beautiful scenery while also getting a good workout. Some popular hikes include:
- The Sky Islands Hiking Trail
- Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park
- Chiricahua National Monument
2. Visit the Phoenix Zoo.
The Phoenix Zoo is a great place to visit with your family. You can see animals from all over the world, including lions, tigers, and bears–oh my! There are many different exhibits to explore and even an area where you can feed the giraffes. If you want to learn more about the wildlife in Arizona or just have fun with your loved ones, this is a must-visit location.
3. Experience The Grand Canyon National Park.
The Grand Canyon National Park, located in the state of Arizona, is 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. It’s over a mile deep and was formed by the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon is one of the most visited national parks in the country and offers something for everyone. The park has hiking trails that range from easy to difficult depending on your physical ability and skill level as well as jeep tours that provide a great overview of this breathtaking area. Visitors can also enjoy watching spectacular views during sunrise or sunset while eating dinner at El Tovar Restaurant overlooking the river below them on South Rim Drive (in Grand Canyon Village).
4. Get outdoors at Picacho Peak State Park.
Picacho Peak State Park is a great place to go hiking and spend time outdoors. Located in the Sonoran Desert of South-Central Arizona, Picacho Peak is the highest point in the Picacho Mountains. The mountains are located in Gila County, which means that it can get hot during the summer months (but don’t worry—there’s still plenty of shade).
Picacho Peak State Park offers camping, fishing, and hiking trails for visitors who want to get out into nature without having to drive very far from Phoenix or Tucson.
5. Relax at Saguaro Lake Ranch Tubing & Cabins.
Located in Tucson, Arizona, Saguaro Lake Ranch Tubing & Cabins is a relaxing retreat for you and your family to enjoy. Stay in one of their rental cabins or rent tubes from them and float down the river on an inner tube through nature. You’ll see beautiful cacti, birds, fish, and other animals as you glide along. If you’d like to sleep under the stars on your trip, they have tent camping available too!
The ranch also has hiking trails where guests can explore miles of the desert landscape. The best views are from the top of Mount Kimball where there’s also a nice picnic area with tables overlooking the city below. The property is open year-round so even if it gets cold at night (as it does often here), there’s plenty to do during the winter months too!
You can get there by car or bus; directions will be sent when making reservations online so make sure not to check out without reviewing these first before booking anything else
6. Take a tour of the Desert Botanical Garden.
If you’re looking for a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, The Desert Botanical Garden is a perfect choice. Located in Papago Park, this garden features native desert plants and is open year-round from 9 a.m. to dusk daily (except Christmas). Admission to the garden is free but donations are accepted.
7. Explore the Old Town Scottsdale area.
Scottsdale, Arizona is known as the “West’s most Western town,” and it’s easy to see why. The city was founded in 1888 by Major Samuel H. Brown, who named it after his home of Scottdale, Pennsylvania. It wasn’t until 1918 that Scottsdale became incorporated into a full-fledged city. Today, Scottsdale is one of the most popular places to live in Arizona and is home to many world-class wineries, golf courses, art galleries, and museums (including the famous Heard Museum).
The heart of Old Town Scottsdale is filled with beautiful architecture from its early days as a mining community including Victorian buildings painted in vibrant colors like pink or lavender. Here you’ll find historic landmarks such as The Mission San Xavier del Bac (built between 1700–1797) or ride through McCormick Ranch on horseback where you can experience true Old West spirit firsthand!
There are plenty of fun things to do here for families too like taking a hiking tour through Chaparral Wildlife Preserve or visiting Taliesin West which was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright when he lived here! If you’re more interested in art than nature then don’t worry because there are plenty of galleries around town featuring everything from paintings to sculptures!
Arizona is a great vacation destination if you like the outdoors, hiking, and warm weather!
Arizona is a great vacation destination if you like the outdoors, hiking, and warm weather! It also has many things to do in the winter. Here are some of the best things to do in Arizona:
Visit Phoenix. This city is known for its rich history and vibrant culture. You can see the sites on foot or hop on public transportation, which is easy to use and very affordable for locals and visitors alike. There are also plenty of interesting museums here that explore both American histories as well as a local culture through art exhibits, live music performances, and more! One of my favorite museums was The Heard Museum – they have an incredible collection of Native American artwork including paintings and sculptures weaved into everything from baskets made out of cactus plants around Palo Verde County all across parts California into Mexico itself.” Want to rent a car check out the best car rental deals for great offers and deals.
