Dubai Family Visa Requirements
The UAE updated its family visa requirements in April 2019. According to the new regulations, an individual’s educational and professional background are no longer factors for a family visa. Now, the deciding factor is dependent on the individual’s income.
Male residents with any profession can apply for a family visa whether they are a manager, college degree holder, or a part of the service field. Family visa application will be considered with at least 4,000 AED or 3,000 AED monthly salary with accommodation.
Females sponsoring families must have of 8,000 AED or 10,000 AED monthly income plus accommodation. Aside from this, they are required to have a professional background. If your residence permit has a profession as a doctor, engineer, nurse, or teacher, you are eligible to sponsor your family. Suppose you have a different profession, as long as your monthly income is around 8,000 AED or 10,000 AED. In that case, you are still eligible for a family visa application after the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs’ approval.
In addition to this, expats can now request sponsorship for sons over the age of 18, which was previously not allowed.

- Marriage certificate
- Birth certificates of children
- Proof of monthly income
- Proof of housing
- Health insurance
A written agreement from husbands is required for wives who wish to sponsor their children. For women who are divorced or widowed, you must present a death or divorce certificate to prove the custody claim.
